How to Apply

Postgraduate Students

You will be sent an email with a link to an on-line accommodation application form once you have been made an offer of a place on a course.  You should submit your application as soon as possible.   Accommodation offers are made from May onwards according to the Priority for the Allocation of Campus Accommodation.  When you receive your offer of accommodation you will have 7 days to accept this – after which the offer will be withdrawn. If you do not like the room that is offered to you and you decline it, you will not be offered another room. If you accept the room, you can register to a waiting list to try and change rooms after you arrive. We cannot guarantee that you will be able to change rooms as this is subject to availability.

Postgraduate accommodation is available for a period of 51 weeks only. It begins on the Saturday before the start of the academic year. If you are an international student you will be asked to arrive in the week before this for a short orientation period.

Campus accommodation is only available to full time students. All bedrooms are for single occupancy and are not suitable for couples. There are a limited number of houses and flats available to students accompanied by their families. If you are coming to Picture of a female student working Keele with your family, you can also find suitable accommodation off campus.

If you apply by the end of June (to arrive at Keele in September), you are given priority for an offer of accommodation. To secure a particular room type, you should apply early.

We cannot guarantee an offer of accommodation if you apply after the end of July. However, we do try to provide you with a room.

If you are made an offer of a room, you will need to send an advance payment of £450 with your acceptance, to secure the room. £300 of this will be used towards payment of the first installment of accommodation fees. The remaining £150 is a deposit, which is refundable at the end of the occupancy period.  You will be given further information about how to do this this when you receive an offer of accommodation.   There is no need to pay this until you receive your offer.

Undergraduate Students

For new students starting a course between September and June, you can apply from early April. You will be sent an email with a link to an on-line accommodation form. You should submit your application as soon as possible.

As an International student you will be able, if you wish, to live in University accommodation provided you apply for it by the appropriate deadline.  We have a variety of room types in 5 Halls of Residence.  We also encourage International students to live off campus for part of their time at Keele in order to get a wider experience of life in England.

We are happy to help you with any questions you may have with on or off campus accommodation at Keele

For new students starting a course between September 2012 and June 2013, application forms will be available from early 2012.

We will do our best to meet your requirements, however we cannot guarantee that we will be able to allocate your first preference of room type.  You therefore need to complete all sections of the accommodation application form, indicating your second and third preferences too.

When you are applying for a room you should think carefully about the occupancy period.  If you apply for a room on a 33 week occupancy period, you will have to move out of your room and remove all your belongings for the 4 week Easter vacation.  We cannot offer storage on campus or an alternative room on campus for those 4 weeks.  You should also check your course dates, as some courses may require you to be at Keele over the Easter Vacation, such as Social Work.

If your admission to Keele is conditional upon examination results, your application for accommodation will be looked at after your results are released and once you have confirmed your acceptance of your place at Keele.

When you receive your offer of accommodation you will have 7 days to accept this - after which the offer will expire. If you do not like the room that is offered to you and you decline it, you will not be offered another room. If you accept the room, you can register to a waiting list to try and change rooms after you arrive.

As an International Fresher (new student) we ask that you arrive 3 days earlier than Home students for the International Orientation Programme.  We are not able to accommodate you before this date.

We understand that is it not always possible to arrive at Keele in the day time, but we do recommend that you try.  You may prefer to stay overnight in one of the hotels next toPremier Ensuite Room Manchester, Birmingham, Heathrow and Gatwick airports.  Then you can travel to Keele during the day when it is easier and safer.

International Student Support operates a FREE Meet and Greet Airport Collection service for all new students who are arriving in the UK for the first time.
