How to Apply

If you are a current, returning student at Keele, you need to think about the following options for accommoda tion for the 2013/2014 academic year.

Are you eligible for University accommodation? – Our Priorities for the Allocation of University Accommodation can be found here.  Unless you are in one of the categories listed, you are not eligible to apply for accommodation.

Looking to live off campus? – If you are not eligible or are unsuccessful in applying for campus accommodation, you will need to look for somewhere to live in the local area.  You can find lots of information, advice and properties.

What are the key dates?

End of January – if you require your application to be supported by Disability Services you must contact them by the end of January.

February – there will be 3 days in which you can apply for accommodation.  We will e-mail information on these dates to all students.

March – offers of accommodation are available (you will be notified before this date).

March – deadline for accepting your accommodation contract if you wish to accept the offer.  Please remember that once you accept your accommodation contract you are legally bound to pay all fees.

31 August – deadline for paying £150 deposit and £300 part payment towards the first installment of your accommodation fees.

Things to think about before applying

  • Before choosing where you would like to live you should think about what type of person you are and whether or not you like mixing with large groups of people.  Think about the size of the accommodation blocks before making your decision.
  • If you take re-sit examinations during the summer or your academic progress is under review and subject to appeal you should be aware that any allocated accommodation will be withdrawn if you do not progress to your next year of study.
  • Late applications cannot be accepted
  • Offers of accommodation cannot be changed.   There will be a waiting list at the start of the next academic year if you wish to change rooms, but this is subject to availability.
  • Any student who does not return their offer of accommodation by the deadline will have their offer of accommodation withdrawn.
  • We cannot guarantee that we can allocate any of your room choices since certain areas are oversubscribed.
  • It is anticipated that final year examinations will commence during the Easter vacation.  Therefore final year students should only apply for rooms on a 37 or 42 week occupancy.
  • If you are in international student or you need to be on campus during the Easter vacation we strongly recommend that you apply for accommodation on a 37 week occupancy (accommodation will not be available on campus during the Easter vacation for those students on a 33 week occupancy).
  • Students residing on campus are not permitted to bring a car onto the campus unless they are disabled, either permanently or temporarily, or are studying certain specified courses which require attendance on placements off campus.

How much will it cost?

Changes to room descriptions

We have changed the descriptions of some rooms so that their name is a more accurate description of what you can expect.  For example, some blocks have always been sold as standard rooms but they are actually rooms in flats with fewer people sharing the facilities than in the larger blocks.  A full list of the descriptions can be found in the Types of Accommodation section.
