English Language Requirements
You must include details and any certificates you have in English Language competence with your application. For a comparison of English Language qualifications meeting Keele's entry requirements, please consult the English Language Table.
In order to grant a Tier 4 student visa the UKBA requires that students have
- Minimum IELTS score of 6.0 (minimum of 5.5 in each subtest) or equivalent
All students whose first language is not English will have an English Language test on arrival at Keele and will be given an introduction to the English Language Unit . Based on your needs and in consultation with English Language Unit staff, you will then be allocated to the appropriate English Language Module to help strengthen your language skills. Individual, as-needed language support and guidance will be available to you from the English Language Unit for the duration of your stay at Keele.
Pre-sessional English Language
If you have NOT achieved the minimum IELTS as above but have the following:
- Minimum IELTS score of 5.5 (minimum of 5.0 in each subtest) or equivalent
you will be required to take pre-sessional English classes for at least 6 weeks prior to your course commencing in September. Your visa will be issued by the UKBA on the condition that you achieve the required language competencies by the end of the pre-sessional course, but could be withdrawn if you fail to make satisfactory progress.
