About the area
Keele University is located in the county of Staffordshire, which is situated in the middle of England.
The 12th century town of Newcastle-Under-Lyme (not to be confused with the city of Newcastle in the north!) is just 3 miles away, and has shops, grocery stores, restaurants and a movie theatre, as well at the renowned New Vic Theatre.
A bit further down the road is the city of Stoke-on-Trent, which is only 5.5 miles from Keele. Stoke is a city of 470,000 and is home to the world famous Wedgwood and Royal Doulton potteries, as well as two professional football clubs.
Notable places to visit in the area include the Monkey Forest- where Barbary Macaques roam freely, Little Morton Hall- a Tutor residence that was built in 1450 and is open to the public, and Alton Towers- Britain’s most popular theme park!
