Some EXCHANGE students would pay their residence fees to their home university, as these are covered by their exchange agreement. However, you will still be required to pay a room deposit of £150 on arrival at Keele. You are still liable for any damage charges in your hall of residence.

If you do pay by credit card you will be charged an additional 1.8%. Further details can be obtained from the University's Income Office.

If you pay your tuition fees late you will have to pay a fine of 5% of what you owe (minimum £25).

Payment of Residence Fees

Those of you living on campus will pay for your room or flat as 'Residence Fees'. Residence Fees are normally payable in three instalments by Direct Debit (details forwarded to you before your arrival) and the first instalment will include payment for the three extra days orientation period. However, first semester students are charged just one payment to take into account the period Thursday 24 September to the date of leaving in January. First Semester students, please do not book your return flight for a set date in January, as your moving out date will depend on your exam schedule, which will not be available until November. If you pay your residence fees late you will have to pay a fine of 5% of what you owe (minimum £25).

You will of course, need to open a UK bank account for the Direct Debit to be effective.

An individual invoice is issued at the beginning of the academic year by the Income Office, Finance Department and will be mailed to your residence address, which you can collect from the Post room. Or they will be sent to your University managed off-campus" address detailing the amount due for each installment, the due dates of payment and the Income Office opening hours. Living Costs

All International students are recommended to have available about £4900-7300 (excluding Tuition and Accommodation) per year to cover other costs - meals, books, laundry and other personal costs. This sum does not include travel between your own country and Keele and may also need to be increased if you intend to live at Keele all year round i.e. not returning home for vacations.
