American exchange students became honoury 'Stokies' during an FA Cup match against Manchester City.

30 American exchange students, attending Keele University for 12 weeks, supported Stoke City on Saturday 26th January alongside their teachers and support staff.

Despite the snow, the turn out was good and the group was in high spirits.

Before the match, Geoff Cameron met with the students stating it was, “great to hear some American accents in Stoke!” but apologised for not taking part in the match, explaining that Tony Pulis was resting him.

Ex exchange student Tommy Lancaster flew in from Wisconsion especially for the match, wanting to be a part of the day.

The match ended in a 0-1 defeat for Stoke but the honoury 'Stokies' were not put off and stayed behind to explore the stadium and its surroundings.

Dr. Jon Parker who teaches the students said, “This was a fantastic chance to experience British culture and get to know the local community first-hand. It will teach them more about England and Stoke on Trent than I could possibly get across in a classroom. This is one of the things they will remember and talk about for years to come when they return to America.”
