Foundations of Applied Mathematics (Mechanics and Statistics)
Foundations of Applied Mathematics (Mechanics and Statistics) (15 credits)
This module introduces you to the applications of mathematics to mechanic/physical situations as well as to statistical techniques used widely across the whole curriculum and in research. You will undertake an open-ended investigation of a real-life scenario requiring the application of these techniques to explain and justify your solution to that scenario. Content includes: constant acceleration; forces; Newton’s laws of motion; projectiles; probability; correlation and regression; and normal distribution.
