Fees Exceptions
Keele University - Student Fees Exceptions for 2012/13
If you are a new UG student for the 2011/12 academic year and take a leave of absence or other break which will mean you recommence your studies in 2012 the following information will provide you with a clear understanding of how the changes in fees for 2012 will affect you.
1. You will remain a student of the University and will continue to pay the lower fee until the end of your studies if you are:
• taking an agreed leave of absence, for up to a maximum of one year (to undertake employment which is not a formal part of your programme)
• taking an agreed leave of absence, on medical grounds
• registered on an intercalating year (e.g. studying abroad or undertaking a year in industry as a formal stage of your programme)
• transferring to a different subject/s (this includes students who progress normally from year one in the first subject to year two in the second subject and those who are required to restart their first year, in the new subject).
2. This fee relief will not apply if you are:
• Commencing your studies at Keele in 2012 after deferring your entry.
• an EU student who has completed a course as a prerequisite for 2012 entry to a University degree (i.e. Pre-sessional English, with no University academic credit) with the International Study Centre
3. There may be extenuating circumstances where further relief is appropriate. Decisions will be based on the following guidelines, which reflect the University’s policy on fee-charging for students who withdraw from their course. Decision will also take into account the University’s Regulations on time-limits for study.
• Students who take a leave of absence within the first four weeks of term will not be charged a fee.
• Students who take a leave of absence after the first four weeks of term will be charged a pro-rata fee based on the number of weeks in attendance, based on the length of your course.
