ASPIRE bursaries for local students

Have you lived in Newcastle-under-Lyme for at least the last five years? You can apply for a non-repayable bursary of up to £500 from ASPIRE, a local organisation. The details are here:http://www.staffsfoundation.org.uk/realisefoundation/ Applications are welcome all year round, from current and prospective students. Keele students have been successful in obtaining bursaries in the past. Examples of items and services provided include a laptop and an annual travelcard.

National Scholarship Programme - have you applied yet?

The deadline for applications for the NSP has been extended  for students who enrolled on the first year of a full-time undergraduate course in September 2012. If your household income is below £25,000 a year and you receive the maximum maintenance grant of £3250 this year, you could be eligible for a National Scholarship Programme Award. Further information about additional criteria and an application form are available on our "undergraduate bursaries" page.

Foyer Federation News

The allocation of bursaries to students who have been foyer residents has changed: http://www.foyer.net/pdf/Changes_to_student_financial_support_2012.pdf

We will continue to award bursaries to students at Keele who already receive a Foyer Bursary. If you are a new student who has been a foyer resident we will contact you in the first semester to discuss financial support.

EGAS - a bursary and scholarship resource

Don't forget - Keele University is a member of EGAS, the Educational Grants Advisory Service. That means that our students can apply for funding from one of the many charities and trusts the organisation represents. Here is the link.

It is also possible to apply to the Barclaycard Horizons Fund via the EGAS website:

All UK undergraduate students - make sure when you complete your online application for student funding via Student Finance England that you and your parents/sponsor have given consent to share your financial information with us so that we can assess whether you are eligible for a bursary or (for 2012 starters only) a National Scholarship Programme award.

PAYDAY LOANS:It has been brought to our attention that at least two "payday" lenders are targetting students specifically.

Please note that if you are in urgent need of a short-term, interest-free hardship loan you can come to us, or go to ASK in KeeleSU.

Tuition Fees for UK and EU undergraduates - continuing students and 2011 Starters

Provided that you are enrolled at Keele before 2012, you will continue on the pre-2012 tuition fees and student funding arrangements for the duration of your undergraduate course. You will not become liable for the new rate of tuition fees in place for 2012, as this will apply only to students starting their studies in or after September 2012. If you are a 2011 starter planning to take a Leave Of Absence, please seek advice on your funding position before doing so. The tuition fee for pre-2012 starters in 2012/13 is £3465.
