Glitzy Henna - Ayesha Azad
Business Management and Finance (year 3)
Summary:
Glitzy Henna offer a unique henna art design service and also specialise in gift items, including candles and frames hand decorated with henna. The business has been up and running since October 2010 when I joined the SPEEDWM scheme at Keele University.
About me:
I am an undergraduate at Keele studying Business Management and Finance and also a professional henna artist. I have been studying business since high school and I’ve always wanted to have my own business. I developed the idea of a henna art service after it became a hobby of mine a few years ago. I became fascinated by it at every special occasion that I went to, where many people applied henna to hands and arms. I then decided to combine my passion for business with my hobby and established Glitzy Henna.
About the business:
Glitzy Henna provides professional henna artistry in Stoke-on-Trent, Birmingham and across the West Midlands. We offer henna art for weddings, henna ceremonies, festivals, exhibitions, fashion shows, photo shoots and corporate events. We also do charity and fundraising events.
How Student Enterprise has helped me:
SPEEDWM has helped my business immensely. I gained support and finances to help me start up Glitzy Henna and I also had very helpful mentors and trainers who helped to increase my confidence. With all of their help, support and guidance, I was able to make my aspirations to become a businesswoman a reality. SPEEDWM gave me the opportunity to put my ideas into practice, without the programme, I may not have been able to set up my business.
Future plans:
My next aim is to provide henna workshops in schools and colleges. In addition to this I also plan to open up a training academy for people who want to train as henna artists, and employ them for the business. My personal future plan is to compete for the world’s fastest henna artist.
