Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Adviser
Our mental health and emotional wellbeing adviser is a qualified mental health nurse who has many years experience of working within various fields of mental health. This service is available at Keele on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
She is available to give confidential advice, information and professional support to anyone who is concerned about their own, or someone else's mental health. We can also advise other university staff in enabling them to support students who are struggling emotionally, or who have diagnosed mental health difficulties.
Counsellors and the mental health and emotional wellbeing adviser work closely together in order to offer a service which is appropriate to your needs. I might be that the adviser works with you alongside a member of the counselling team
If you already have a mental health diagnosis from your home GP or psychiatrist, then our adviser can act as a link between the local NHS teams and the University. In addition to this she can provide a mental health and wellbeing assessment to identify any support requirements you may have, and then liaise with your academic department or other support agencies either within Keele or externally.
She is committed to promoting a culture of mental wellbeing for students. Alongside this she will be raising awareness and understanding of mental health and reducing the stigma faced by those experiencing mental health problems.
You can request an appointment to see her by calling CEW on (01782) 734187 or ext. 34187
