Welcome Week

We aim to make the transition into Higher Education and campus life as easy as possible and one of the ways we can make this happen is by running a series of social events and activities to help students meet other students. The full programme of events is available at http://www.keele.ac.uk/newstudents/welcomeweekevents/ and information is also available in the Welcome Guide Events Section. Our team of Student Ambassadors will be working with us to provide information and advice as well as tips about the Keele student experience.

Keele Mentors

Having a Keele Mentor is a fantastic way to aid your transition into Keele. Coming to University is a life changing experience. Even if you feel relatively comfortable about starting university, you still might want a point of contact and someone who you can ask questions before you arrive. Having a Mentor is a great way of finding out more about studying at Keele from someone who has experienced this themselves. We aim to match you to a Mentor who has done a similar course to you. They will be able to share with you their tips to get the best out of your time at Keele, what to get involved in and where to go both on and off campus.

Our Keele Mentors scheme begins with email contact prior to arrival at Keele, and continues during the first few weeks and months after arrival and in some cases, beyond this. Keele Mentors aims to ease the transition for new students starting with us, and provide a welcoming start to their time at Keele. If you would like to have a Keele Mentor please complete the online application here

We will then match you to a mentor doing a similar course to you. They will contact you by email before you arrive at Keele so you can ask them any questions you have. Then when you arrive at Keele you can meet them at the Keele Mentors Launch Party on Wednesday 2nd October. They will be there for you during your first weeks and months at Keele, to show you round and give you advice about being a Keele student.

This is a great chance to find out more about studying at Keele from someone who has just experienced this themselves. They will be able to share with you their tips to get the best out of your time at Keele, what to get involved in, where to go both on and off campus. They will be here for you throughout your first year or for as long as you need their advice and support.

If you would like more information or have any questions please email us at mentors@keele.ac.uk

It is best to apply as soon as possible so we can match you to your Mentor so that you can talk to them before you arrive. However we will also accept applications throughout your first year so if you change your mind you can still apply online here.

Moving on Up!

This event is planned in collaboration with Disability and Dyslexia Support. It aims to provide additional support and guidance to students with complex disabilities prior to their arrival at Keele. 'Moving on Up' is a residential weekend event for students and a carer. It aims to introduce Keele and higher education learning at a quieter time in the academic year and allows for greater personalised provision in the run up to Welcome Week and before the start of the academic year. This event takes place in September.
