Support for Care Leavers

We are committed to supporting students from a care background. If you are a care leaver and you are considering coming to Keele University or are already studying here you can expect:

  • A dedicated Care Leaver contact who can offer tailored, individual and sustained support prior to arrival and throughout your time as a Keele student.
  • A Care Leavers’ non-repayable bursary.
  • Help in accessing financial assistance, guidance and support.
  • A guaranteed place in University accommodation.

The University has a dedicated Care Leaver Support contact called Ian Ronald. It is Ian's role to ensure that students who have spent time in Care are provided with the level of support they require and have access to opportunities that will make  their experience at Keele a great one.

Ian works in the Student Life and Learning team which is located on the ground floor of the Walter Moberly Building. You can call Ian on (01782) 733 912, alternatively you can email him at i.ronald@acad.keele.ac.uk.

Ian will be available to provide you with the following:

  • sustained support and impartial advice throughout your time at University.
  • act as a link between your local authority, you and the University.
  • Help you access support from services available across the University.
