Sports Centre - Rules & Regulations

FITNESS CENTRE RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Members are expected to maintain a high standard of personal hygiene at all times. 2. Members MUST bring their own towel to use in conjunction with equipment where appropriate to maintain hygiene standards. 3. Members MUST wear the following: T-shirt or Vest, Shorts or Tracksuit Bottoms, Clean Trainers 4. Members MUST wipe down each piece of equipment after use with the disinfectant spray and towelling provided. 5. Members are to switch off their mobile phones prior to entering the Fitness Centre. 6. Members are to store their belongings in the designated areas prior to using the Fitness Centre. 7. Members are limited to using equipment inducted on by a Gym Instructor at Keele University Sports Centre. 8. Members are expected to show a level of consideration to other users of the Fitness Centre during busy periods, by limiting the amount of time spent on each piece of equipment, if not set by a Keele University Sports Centre Fitness Gym Instructor. 9. Members MUST return weights to their respective rack after use. 10. Members MUST not remove equipment from one section of the Fitness Centre for use in another area of the Fitness Centre. 11. Members MUST not drop weights. 12. Use of inappropriate language is not permitted at anytime. 13. Members are requested to report any faulty or malfunctioning equipment immediately to a Keele University Sports Centre Gym Instructor. 14. Members are requested to advise management if dissatisfied with any element of the service provided by Keele University Sports Centre. 15. Members must swipe their Keele Card to gain entry to the Fitness Centre.

MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION:

There is NO membership joining or cancellation fee. A free induction and approved PARQ are required to become a fitness centre member. Memberships will only be REFUNDED by an authorised employee of Keele University Sports Centre on MEDICAL GROUNDS on receipt of written medical evidence. Memberships will only be EXTENDED by an authorised employee of Keele University Sports Centre 1) on MEDICAL GROUNDS on receipt of written medical evidence and 2) if Keele University Sports Centre is CLOSED owing to a public holiday or for a Keele University Conference Booking. LAST FACILITY BOOKING is ONE HOUR prior to the Sports Centre closing. The Fitness Centre operates a policy of admission at all times unless otherwise stated, with a minimum one weeks’ notice. There is a £5 charge for replacing a Gym Card.

FACILITY BOOKING RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Members MUST give at least 24hours notice for cancellation of a booking.  Failure to notify may result in the member being charged for the booking. 2. Members can make bookings for activities up to 2 weeks in advance. 3. Members are advised to arrive at least 5 minutes prior to their activity commencing. 4. Members are expected to depart a Keele University Sports Centre once their activity is over. 5. Members are to switch off their mobile phones prior commencing their activity. 6. Members are to store their belongings in the designated areas prior to commencing their activity. 7. Members MUST observe the time allocation of their activity. 8. Members MUST be considerate of others participating in activities alongside them. 9. No unauthorised use of the facilities or rooms may occur, including (but not limited to) the use of the Sports Centre for the teaching of personal classes without the express written permission of the Head of Sport.  Anyone found using the equipment or rooms for activities that are unauthorised will be requested to immediately cease their activities, and any future bookings connected with this will immediately be cancelled.

All activities are UNSUPERVISED. Keele University Sports Centre has the right to cancel and/or alter bookings with respect to Public Holiday periods and/or Keele University Conference Bookings. Equipment hired for use from Keele University Sports Centre is subject to a non-refundable hire charge.  A deposit of £5 or a Keele Card is also required.
