Keele Model United Nations offers the opportunity for students at Keele to be able to organise themselves to participate in Model United Nations events held domestically and internationally.
Model United Nations is an experience offered to all students. Delegates are exposed to the fast-paced world of debates and policy decision-making under pressure centering on a wide spectrum of issues ranging from geopolitical and military topics to humanitarian and international law concerns.
If you'd like to join this student-led society please for day and times of their weekly meetings and any questions can be directed to to Stephen Vanson.
Please also view KMUN's facebook group where updates, messages and meetings can be found for this student-led society.
Keele also has a long history of dispatching a delegation from our KMUN to attend Harvard University World Model United Nations to represent a country at this annual conference.
This is the largest and most prestigious simulation of multilateral diplomacy, which brings together students from throughout the world to debate pressing global issues. Hosted in a different international location each spring, seventeen simulated committees of the United Nations and other international organisations gather to discuss the issues facing this generation. It provides students with the opportunity to experience new cultures while providing them with valuable leadership skills. Through lively and informed debate, exciting social events, and a unique conference spirit, the WorldMUN experience reaches across cultures and borders to inspire both cooperation and friendship.
Recently, KMUN sent Keele delegates to attend Slovenia International Model United Nations (SiMUN), 14 - 19 September 2010, report pending. Prior to this Keele sent a delegation team to attend Oxford International Model United Nations (OxIMUN) in November 2009. Read the OxIMUN Report here.
KMUN also sent Keele delegates to attend WARMUN 09, Warwick University and also the European Model Arab League (Euromal 2009).

Imad-Eddine Mesdoua, President of KMUN led a five person team to WARMUN 09 hosted at Warwick University. This conference was designed around their interactive crisis model and Keele's performance was remarkable: the delegation bought home one 'Best Delegate' award (I. Mesdoua) and two 'Honourable Mentions' awards (P. Bensusan and D. Holmshaw). This performance confirms yet again the high level that the KMUN society has maintained throughout this year. |
WARMUN 09, Warwick University, 28 Feb - 1 March 2009 |
|
Imad-Eddine Mesdoua represented KMUN at the European Model Arab League (Euromal 2009) held at the University of Birmingham, whereby he was selected as Head Chairman of the Palestinian Council. Delegates were put into the position of the member Arab League countries with different strategies and objectives. Their agenda focused mainly on addressing the growing division within the palestinian cabinet as well as the economic difficulties of the palestinian occupied territories. |
