John Rogers is now Professor Emeritus of the History of Philosophy but retains links with Spire as Founder-Editor of the British Journal for the History of Philosophy , which he still edits, through his supervision of graduate students, and his continuing research, primarily in the history of philosophy of the seventeenth century.

Major publications are: Locke's Enlightenment (1998), and about one hundred articles and chapters in books. In addition he has edited most recently (with Karl Schuhmann) Leviathan (2003), (with Y.V. Zarka and F. Lessey) Les fondements philosophiques de la tolerance (3 vols., Paris, 2002) (with Tom Sorell), Hobbes and History (2000), and about twelve other books, mostly on seventeenth-century philosophy.

He is currently editing Volumes 2 and 3 of John Locke's Drafts for the Essay Concerning Human Understanding, for the Clarendon Edition of the Works of John Locke, having previously edited volume 1.
