University Student Prizes
Sheila Carson Memorial Prize
The Sheila Carson Memorial Prize was established in 1971 in memory of Mrs. Sheila Carson, graduate of Keele, and at the time of her death, lecturer in the Department of Philosophy and Warden of Horwood Hall. Up to two prizes can be awarded for best overall achievement at the end of the second year of the Philosophy degree programme. The present value of the total prize fund is £50.
University Graduate Prizes
Martin Harrison Politics Dissertation Prize
In recognition of Emeritus Professor Martin Harrison’s work, up to two prizes awarded for a graduate/s in Politics who produces an outstanding dissertation. The present value of the total prize fund is £100.
Clare Coleman Memorial Prize
This prize commemorates Clare Coleman who read English and Philosophy at Keele from 1984 to 1987 and who died after a long illness just before taking her final examinations. Up to two prizes can be awarded for special achievement in studies at the end of the third year for a Philosophy/English graduate. The present value of the total prize fund is £40.
School Graduate Prizes
Professor Rosemary O’Kane Student Prize
To recognise the work of Emeritus Professor Rosemary O’Kane, SPIRE agreed to award this prize to the best Politics third year undergraduate student. This prize can be split up to two students. The present value of the total prize fund is £100.
The Owen Powell Student Prize
To recognise the hard work, determination and achievement of Mr Owen Powell with respect to his personal studies and in particular the work of World Affairs, SPIRE agreed to award this prize to an International Relations third year undergraduate student for outstanding achievement in their International Relations programme. This prize can be split up to two students. The present value of the total prize fund is £100.
Professor G.A.J. Rogers Student Prize
To recognise the work of Emeritus Professor G.A.J Rogers, SPIRE agreed to award this prize to a Philosophy third year undergraduate student for achievement in their philosophy studies. This prize can be split up to two students. The present value of the total prize fund is £100.
Postgraduate Dissertation Prize
SPIRE agreed to award this prize to the Postgraduate student who has submitted an outstanding dissertation. This prize can be split up to two students. The present value of the total prize fund is £100. See this page for the prizewinners.
