Earlier this week (30.07.13) SPIRE's Senior Lecturer in Politics, Dr Phil Catney, featured in a Radio Five Live report on housing and regeneration in Stoke-on-Trent.  As part of a week of stories on housing for the Drive programme, Dr Catney was interviewed about the challenges confronting the city's regeneration plans. He discussed Stoke-on-Trent's strategic assets and its long-term economic weaknesses.

Dr Catney recently directed an ESRC seminar series on the regeneration of medium sized cities and was the lead author of the recently published:  "Big society, little justice? Community renewable energy and the politics of localism", Local Environment, May 2013. More here.
