SPIRE's Professor John Horton has had Georgia on his mind in March, since he has been in Tbilisi for the latest in an international series of meetings aimed at developing University teachers in post-Communist, non-EU countries. The year's participants came from Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Mongolia.

Professor Horton's role was to work with early career academics, including post-doctoral and advanced doctoral students, to familiarise them with developments in Western scholarship in political philosophy, and to generally engage with them about their academic development. Previous meetings have been held in St Petersburg, Ekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, Svetlogorsk, Kiev and Istanbul.
