Sustainable student house
Four BSc in Environment and Sustainability students are set to turn a Barnes bungalow into an exemplar of greener, cheaper campus living. The project will involve energy reduction measures and a vegetable garden, and will be monitored for a year. The results will be disseminated widely at Keele and nationally.
Dr Zoe Robinson (School of Physical and Geographical Sciences/ Research Institute for the Environment, Physical Sciences and Applied Mathematics) and Dr Sherilyn MacGregor (SPIRE/ Research Institute for Social Sciences), who are the joint directors of the BSc course, have been awarded £10,000 from the Higher Education Academy Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences subject centre for the project, entitled '"Living what we're learning". They aim to evaluate the impact of the house on the University community's environmental awareness. The four students will be working under their supervision.
