Matthew Barbe Postgraduate student Matthew Barber, who is studying for an MA in Environmental Politics, went on a three week trip to Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of Congo to help with the development of a children's centre in the south east of the country. Centre Kimbilio is run by The Congo Children's Trust and supported by a Christian group, called CMS.  In conjunction with Centre Kimbilio, CMS and Keele, Matthew is looking to establish a project that will enable the centre to receive a permanent, sustainable electricity supply from a renewable source (solar power).

The aim is to develop a collaborative project between the Centre Kimbilio, CMS and Keele University Sustainability Hub (KUSH) to improve the situation. Keele University has provided support, equipment and advice to help Matthew carry out an initial site survey.  More information on Matthew's project and KUSH.
