Physics and Astrophysics

If you apply to a Physics or Astrophysics course at Keele and receive an offer for the 2013 entry, you will be invited to attend one of our Visit Days in February and March, when the Lennard-Jones Laboratories will be open as follows:

  • Wednesday 20 February 2013:  2.00pm - 4.00pm
  • Saturday 9 March 2013:  10.00am - 4.00pm
  • Saturday 23 March 2013: 10.00am - 4.00pm

You and your friends and family will be welcome to visit us at any time during these hours, when you will have the chance to meet individually with a member of staff, talk to current students, and have a look around our Department. These are informal meetings, and special appointments are not needed. However, when you are invited to attend, please do book in with the University for one of the days, following the general instructions given through the central visiting website.

On Saturday and Sunday Visit Days, we also give a scheduled general talk and a tour of our Observatory (see below). These two events are repeated in the morning and the afternoon, allowing you time to tour the University campus, attend general information sessions and visit other Departments.

10.00–16.00 

academic staff and current students will be on hand in the Lennard-Jones building throughout the day to answer any questions about our courses, and about life and studies at Keele in general

10.45–11.15

TALK :   Physics and Astrophysics at Keele

an overview of our course contents and degree structures, the teaching environment and  our research  in Physics and Astrophysics , and careers information

11.30

TOUR :   Keele Observatory or Physics Project Laboratory

following the talk, a minibus will run from the Lennard-Jones building to take anyone interested for an approximately half-hour tour of our on-campus observatory

11.30 onwards

time to view the undergraduate laboratory facilities, demonstrations and displays in the Lennard-Jones building, and to meet and ask questions of academic staff and current undergraduate students

13.00–13.30

TALK :   Physics and Astrophysics at Keele

13.45

TOUR :   Keele Observatory or Physics Project Laboratory

13.30 onwards

further opportunity to view the Lennard-Jones facilities and speak with staff and students
