Prospective Students

What are we trying to do?

In both the BA and the MA social work training programmes we aim to:

  • provide an educational experience which ensures that all students are able to address and critically engage with the formal knowledge base underpinning social work practice.
  • provide the basic professional training in social work to meet the requirements set by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) so that students may practise competently and are able to evaluate and justify their practice.
  • provide a programme of study that develops the knowledge, skills and values required for effective anti-discriminatory practice in a diverse society.
  • develop students' personal and intellectual qualities so that they are able to respond effectively to changes in society and social work practice.
  • prepare students students for employment and lay the foundations for continuing professional development.

In addition, our postgraduate level programme aims to:

  • develop higher level skills in researching, writing and the evaluation of knowledge.
