I graduated from Keele University in 1998, before gaining an MA in Social and Cultural Theory from Staffordshire University in 1999. My career started in the Lifelong Learning Sector where I lectured in Sociology, Public Services, Adult Literacy and ESOL. In 2004, I returned to Keele as a Learning and Teaching Assistant for Criminology and gained a PGCE in Further, Adult and Higher Education and received an Individual Learning and Teaching Excellence Award in 2006. I then worked within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences before taking up post as a Student Life and Learning Developer within Student Support and Development Services. My area of expertise is learning literacies, particularly within the context of Humanities and Social Science disciplines. My interests include student writing, meta-cognition and skills-based teacher education. I am also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
