Undergraduate scholarships

The Keele International Student Scholarship for undergraduate students is worth GBP2000 towards the cost of your annual tuition fees for the duration of your course.  Students studying a three-year degree can therefore save GBP6000 from the total cost of their degree studies. 

The Scholarships are awarded to students who can demonstrate excellence in at least two of the following areas:

* Academic qualifications,
* English Language ability,
* Understanding of the course and motivation to study at Keele,
* Extra-curricular or work experience

Please note that students studying the 5-year undergraduate degree in Medicine and the 4-year undergraduate degree in Pharmacy are not eligible for this award.

To apply for the KIS Scholarship you must have applied to Keele and been offered a place to study here.  You must then complete a separate application form (download KISS Application Form) Applications must have been received and processed before the start of academic year for which the application is made.  KIS Scholarships cannot be awarded to students who have already started their degree at Keele. 

A committee will meet once a month to consider applications submitted for the Scholarship.  The next deadline for applications is Wednesday 28th August 2013.

‌A third of our applicants were successful in the first round - congratulations to all those who have been awarded a Scholarship. Our successful applicants came from a variety of countries including China, Nigeria, South Africa and Vietnam and have applied for a diverse range of courses including Biomedical Blood Sciences, Finance and Management, Globalisation and Justice, Human Rights and Politics and IR.

Please note if you have been unsuccessful we cannot consider any further applications for this award in this academic year.

The decisions on Scholarships are made by the International Recruitment Team and their decision is final.


Natural Science Scholarship

The £1,000 FNS Scholarship will be granted automatically to all overseas students starting a course for the first time within the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Undergraduate Level One or a postgraduate taught course in 2013, who are paying overseas fees.  This is a one off reduction in tuition fees for the first year of study only.  It is guaranteed and will be deducted from your tuition fees.

Keele Graduate Bursary

If you studied at Keele as an undergraduate you are automatically entitled to the Keele Graduate Bursary, which is worth GBP1000 towards the cost of your Master's tuition fees.  Please note that if you are awarded the Keele International Student Scholarship then you cannot also claim the Keele Graduate Bursary.


Tullow Group Scholarship Scheme

Keele is a participating university on the Tullow Group Scholarship.  For further information, and details on how to apply, please click here.  The Tullow Group Scholarship is open to students from the following countries: Ghana, Uganda, Gabon, Cote D'Ivoire, Congo Brazzaville, Kenya, Ethiopia, Mauritania, Surinam and Uruguay.

The scholarship will cover among others;

  • full tuition fees;
  • a monthly stipend;
  • travel costs;
  • warm clothing; and
  • baggage allowance

Recipients of the scholarship must:

  • Be a citizen and legally resident in participating country;
  • Ideally have a minimum of a bachelor degree or Licence (second class lower or better) or an HND (second classupper or better;
  • Be resident  in participating countries at the time of application;
  • Be currently employed with a track record of success in their field of endeavour
  • Must not have previously studied abroad or received an international scholarship
  • Must have a strong personality as well as ambition, entrepreneurial and creative spirit and leadership skills;
  • Must demonstrate commitment to return to country and make a contribution to the future development of the country; and
  • Must demonstrate a high level of competence in management, strategy and ability to train and develop others

Kenyan Scholarships

Kenya Jubilee Scholarships

One Full Scholarship for the MSc Environment Sustainability and Green Technology (one-year programme)

The scholarship covers:

  • Full tuition fees, one year
  • On campus accommodation
  • Contribution toward living expenses
  • One return airfare from Kenya

Eligibility of candidates:

-        Candidates must have a First Class Honours Degree

-        Candidates must  demonstrate excellence in  the following areas:

  • Academic qualifications
  • English Language ability
  • Understanding of the course and motivation to study at Keele
  • Extra-curricular or work experience in a relevant field

 -        Candidates who have already had the opportunity of studying for one year or more outside of Kenya will not be eligible

-        Candidates will be required to prove their nationally and show that without this Scholarship they would be unable to study in the UK

 50% - Partial Scholarships

Four partial scholarships, which are worth 50% of the cost of your tuition fees

There are:

Two scholarships for any full-time postgraduate courses, (50% of the cost of your Master’s tuition fees)

and

Two scholarships for any full-time undergraduate courses, except for Medicine.  (50% of the cost of your annual tuition fees, per year of study.)

All these partial scholarships are available to applicants who can demonstrate their Nationality is Kenyan and who are paying the overseas tuition fee, and show excellence in at least two of the following areas:

  • Academic qualifications
  • English Language ability
  • Understanding of the course and motivation to study at Keele
  • Extra-curricular or work experience

Please note that these scholarships cannot be awarded with any other Keele Scholarships.
