Professor Pnina Werbner gives plenary address
Pnina Werbner, Professor Emerita of Social Anthropology, Research Institute for Social Sciences, was invited to give a plenary address to the Association of Social Anthropologists and the Commonwealth annual conference in New Delhi.
The conference theme was 'Aesthetics in a Globalising World' and the title of her address was 'The Aesthetics of Diaspora: Sensual Milieus and Literary Worlds'. Professor Werbner also co-convened a panel at the conference on 'Beyond the Arab Spring: The Aesthetics and Poetics of Popular Revolt and Protest,' in which she presented a paper drawing on fieldwork on the public service unions' strike in Botswana.
