‘Tiananmen: An Archaeology of the Event’
The project aims at examining the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests and their violent suppression through the literature on the philosophy of the event, in particular through the work of Alain Badiou and Michel Foucault’s ‘archaeology’. Supervised by Dr Barry Ryan and Dr Helen Parr
Research interests include: Chinese History, Continental Philosophy, Philosophy of History, Political Economy, Post-colonial Studies, Critical Security Studies
