Role: Phd Student The role of the voluntary sector in promoting desistance through peer mentoring.

I hope to return to criminal justice practice in some capacity, hopefully using my new research skills to analyse and improve service provision.

My PhD is a qualitative study of peer mentoring by ex-offenders. I am focusing on perspectives and practices in three voluntary sector settings including a probation support service, a care leavers service and a women's project.

It is my aim to strive for a critical and meaningful understanding of voluntary sector peer mentoring in the context of understandings of desistance from crime.
