Distortions of Normativity - European Research Council Project
Dr Sorin Baiasu, Reader in Philosophy in SPIRE/RISS, has been invited to join an advanced project of the European Research Council on the topic of "Distortions of Normativity".
The project, hosted by the Department of Philosophy at the University of Vienna, aims to investigate transformations and distortions of normative (i.e. moral, political and legal) orders, and explores questions, such as: what impact do normatively distorted background conditions have on our understanding of moral principles and the ways in which we apply them?
During the academic year 2013/14, Dr Baiasu, who is joining the project as Guest Research Professor, will continue his work on normativity by pursuing two main projects – one on a reinterpretation of Kant's guarantee for perpetual peace and the second, on the normative relationship between justice and desert.
