Postgraduate students, Jessica Beck and Becky Thumpston (RI, Hums) organised a Postgraduate Study Day with Professor Barbara Kelly (Music).  The event, entitled 'Studying the "Tonal" Avant-Garde: Methodologies of Twentieth-Century Music', took the form of four workshops devoted to selected methodologies: archives, analysis, musical geographies and gender/camp theory.

It drew on the international scholars attending the Poulenc conference for workshop facilitators and it attracted student participants from Canada, France and the UK.  The final plenary session of the study day was a joint session with the Poulenc conference delegates, showing the extent to which postgraduate work was central to the research activities of the weekend.
