John Shapcott, Honorary Research Fellow, RI Humanities, has found and transcribed a previously unknown Arnold Bennett novel from 1921.  It was gifted to the New Vic Theatre building fund, sold and then lost sight of.  John discovered it whilst helping catalogue the Bennett archive held at the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery.

It was written for a major American film company but never went into production. Its publication, which includes a rare complete film scenario, adds enormously to our knowledge of Bennett's involvement with the world of silent cinema & to the art of silent cinema in general in the 1920s.
