Collection, Storage and Retention of Research Data
The Office of Research & Enterprise has been identified within the University for storage of LREC submissions, sample information sheets and consent forms.
The Research Governance Officer, must be notified of the name of the person responsible for data collection before the study commences.
The lead investigator should have sound procedures in place for secure storage and retrieval of raw data. This will assist responses to requests for individual participant data under the Access to Health Records and Data Protection Acts.
For local research projects, original data should not be removed from University premises without prior express permission of the Research Dean and informing the Research Governance Officer of its whereabouts, except in instances where a recognised outside authority is taking responsibility for safe storage.
The Research Governance Officer should be informed of whom to contact regarding large multi-centre trials and requests for individual patient data.
