Keele has been awarded three Biomedical Vacation Scholarships by the Wellcome Trust. The awards provide promising undergraduates with an eight-week stipend to allow them to gain hands-on experience of research during the summer vacation, with the aim of encouraging them to consider a future career in research.

The awardees are Desire Gogo-Fyneface (Keele, Neuroscience and Psychology), William Jacobek (Keele, Medicine) and Charlotte Graham (Royal Holloway University of London, Psychology). Their research is taking place within the research teams of Dave Furness (Developing fibrocyte transplantation to prevent age-related hearing loss), Paul Horrocks (Antimalarial activity of temperate-zone plant secondary products) and Nicky Edelstyn (Revisiting Memory Disorder in Parkinson’s Disease), respectively.
