Innovative workshops a hit with novice programmers
A series of novel workshops developed to introduce and encourage an interest in computer programming are being conducted as part of a research project taking place at Keele.
High school and sixth form students are participating in the sessions in order to evaluate the effectiveness of a specially designed robot simulator, and associated workshop, which aim to support the learning of fundamental programming concepts.
Students from Cannock's Great Wyrley Performing Arts High School (pictured) are amongst those who have taken part so far.
PhD student Louis Major, working under the supervision of Dr Theocharis Kyriacou and Professor Pearl Brereton, has been leading the project. All three are based in the School of Computing and Mathematics at Keele.
