Current MembershipThe Institute currently has in excess of eighty-five academic members, plus a number of affiliate members, and is the second largest of Keele's Research Institutes. All members of academic staff at Keele are eligible to apply for Research Institute membership at any time during the year. Membership is reviewed annually, on the basis of research activity against individual research plans. Full members are entitled to be considered for buy-out of research time from Institute funds, including sabbatical leave, and can draw upon support provided by the Institute. Affiliate members include those who for contractual or other reasons are not eligible for full membership of the Institute. This includes teaching fellows, external researchers/visiting scholars, or members of staff who have an association with the Research Institute through joint working but do not seek full membership. Affiliate members will be invited to participate in the research activities of the Institute, but are not entitled to draw upon the research infrastructure of the Institute. New members of staff are appointed to a Research Institute membership when they join the University, and may subsequently apply for affiliate membership with other Institutes. In applying for membership, those applying will need to demonstrate the following:
