LEAVE OF ABSENCE (Regulation 10)

Specific guidance on the regulation


Regulation 10/1 Periods of absence of no more than 5 working days
Students should always submit requests in writing, either by letter or e-mail.


Regulation 10/2 Periods of absence for academic purposes
Students should always submit requests in writing, either by letter or e-mail.


Regulation 10/3 Interruption of studies

Any student who has availed him/herself of leave of absence must notify the Director of Academic Services in writing of his/her intention to return to the University to renew his/her programme of study at least one month before the date on which it is intended that he/she shall return to study. The Director of Academic Services will write to students to remind them of this requirement.


Regulation 10/4 Leave of absence for other periods not covered by 10/3

Regulation 10/5 Leave of absence for periods in excess of one academic year
For the form on which to apply for this provision see the Academic Registry web site www.keele.ac.uk/depts/aa/newacadregpages/home.htm This form should be submitted initially to the Director of Academic Services.


Regulation 10/6 Student health
Referrals on student health and fitness to study will be a matter for the Directorate of Academic Services acting on advice received.
