Records Management
The University's Records Management webpages contains information on the University's approach to records management. It aims to provide advice and guidance to all members of staff on all aspects of record- keeping throughout the University.
Records Management is about controlling Records in an efficient and systematic way throughout the lifecycle of a record, defined as the;
- Creation
- use
- maintenance and
- final disposal
Effective Records Management is based on the principles of regular review and controlled retention or destruction of records with the general aim of ensuring cost-effective business processes, legal and regulatory compliance and corporate accountability.
The University has in place a Records Management Policy and a records retention schedule to enable the University to comply with the commitments of the Data Protection Act and Freedom of Information Act and integrates consideration of these and other compliance issues.
