The Keele Code of Practice on Postgraduate Research Degrees was first introduced in August 2002 and was substantially revised in August 2005 to take account of the revised Quality Assurance Agency (QAA). All Research Institutes, research students and staff who are associated with Keele's research degree programmes are required to understand and comply with the Code of Practice:

Research Degree Committee

The Research Degrees Committee can best be described as the exam board for research degrees. The committee is made up of representatives from each Research Institute and is a sub committee of Senate.

The committee considers the following:

  • Awards of higher degrees
  • Approval of resubmission statements
  • Doctoral progressions
  • Progression to continuation
  • Approval of supervisors and mentors
  • Approval of independent chairs of vivas
  • Approval of examiners for higher degrees
  • Leave of absences
  • Extensions

Due to the confidential nature of the minutes they are not available on line. Should a member of staff have a query about these they should be made directly to Ian Britton, Quality Assurance Officer.
