The Quality Assurance Agency's Quality Code
The Quality Code is the definitive reference point for all those involved in delivering higher education which leads to an award from or is validated by a UK higher education provider. It makes clear what institutions are required to do, what they can expect of each other, and what the general public can expect of all higher education providers. These Expectations express key matters of principle that the higher education community has identified as important for the assurance of quality and academic standards.
Chapter B7 External Examining
This Chapter is designed to ensure that external examining can operate in a way which is transparent, rigorous, and as consistent as possible across all UK higher education institutions, taking into account institutions' autonomy and differences in their mission, size, organisational structures and range of provision.
Keele Code of Practice on External Examining
Following the introduction of Chapter B7 of the Quality Code, Keele reviewed its provision and created a new Keele Code of Practice on External Examining which was approved by Senate in June 2012.

Reports of the Chief External Examiner
The University appoints, in addition to its academy of subject external examiners, a Chief External Examiner for its undergraduate provision.
This key post serves to provide assurances to the University regarding the soundness and robustness of its final board procedures and the security of its awards, particularly in light of its large dual honours provision.
