Accreditation of Prior Learning
What is Accreditation of Prior Learning at Keele?
The Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) is a process which enables people of all ages and backgrounds to receive recognition and formal credit for learning acquired in the past through formal study and through work and other life experiences.
The term APL encompasses both Accreditation of Prior Certificated Learning (APCL) and Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL), definitions are offered in the definitions section.
Keele University recognised three circumstances under which a claim for APL may be made, they are as follows:
- Admission onto a programme
- Admission onto a programme with advanced standing
- Module exemption
Accreditation of Prior Learning Policy at Keele
The University has an new Policy for the Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) which was approved at the October 2012 Senate, APL Policy.
