I was an undergraduate and a postgraduate at Keele and I returned to lecture in the School of Psychology in 1989 after working for 3 years at Wolverhampton University. My undergraduate teaching interests are in research methods and developmental psychology. My main research interests lie in the fields of social development, student learning and counselling research. I am currently a member of the Research Institute for Life Course Studies.
I am actively involved with quality assurance in psychology and am deputy chair of the British Psychology Society Graduate Qualifications and Accreditation Committee (GQAC). I have acted as external advisor to undergraduate and postgraduate courses in psychology at a number of universities. I have been a QAA subject specialist reviewer for psychology and have just completed a four year period as external examiner for the BSc in Psychology at Birkbeck College, University of London.
I am a member of the Division for Teachers and Researchers in Psychology of the British Psychological Society and have completed SEDA accredited postgraduate certificate courses in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (2002) and in Teaching with Technology (2004). I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
