Possible UCU Action: Marking Boycott

Posted on 23 April 2014

The University and College Union (UCU) is balloting its members on the acceptability of a 2% pay offer that has been made by the Employers representative body in the national pay negotiations.

If the offer is accepted, then the boycott will not take place and all examinations and course work will be marked as normal. If rejected, then UCU has called on its members to participate in a national marking boycott from 6 May 2014.

The University is committed to minimising the impact of any boycott on students without compromising academic standards, and will work to limit disruption to marking, although some interruption may occur.

All examinations will proceed as normal for all years and levels of study.

The University intends to hold graduation ceremonies at the planned times in July.

Information and detailed guidance will be made available for staff and students if necessary.
