Barry Smalley at International Workshop

Astrophysics lecturer, Dr Barry Smalley, was one of the invited lecturers at the Spring School of Spectroscopic Data Analyses in Wroclaw, Poland.
 
He gave lectures on determining stellar temperatures from spectroscopy, stellar parameters from photometry, convection in stars and what influences the results.
 
The workshop had 40 participants, including Keele Astrophysics postgraduate student Amanda Doyle. As well as lectures, the participants were given hands-on experience of various software programs available to analyse stellar atmospheres. 
 
The School was an initiative of KASC (Kepler Asteroseismic Science Consortium) working group on main sequence pulsators.
