Medicines Partnership Programme
The Medicines Partnership Programme was established by the Department of Health in 2002 to promote the concept of concordance – or shared decision making – as an approach to help patients to get the most from their medicines. Since 2006, when the Medicines Partnership Programme became part of NPC Plus, the programme has focussed on practical measures to address adherence to treatment.
There are three strands to the current activity at the Medicines Partnership Programme:
- development of policy and good practice in adherence and medicines taking
- training for healthcare professionals to work with patients to support medicine taking
- research of medicines taking, adherence and concordance
