Question & Answer Sessions, Facilitated Discussions and Successful Examples from the West Midlands

The use of Homecare Companies to provide medicines to patients has continued to rise and is now thought to represent over £1bn of annual NHS spend on medicines.  The Department of Health commissioned a review of governance arrangements associated with this field and the resulting report “Homecare Medicines – Towards a Vision for the Future” was published in November 2011.  Mr Mark Hackett, the author of this report, will discuss the findings, recommendations for change and possible next steps to improve governance in this area.  The day will also include question and answer sessions, group discussions and presentations of ‘good practice examples’ from groups within the West Midlands.

The day will be of interest to all those in the NHS involved in medicines management in both primary and secondary care, as well as those involved in the commissioning/contracting of Homecare Companies to provide medicines and delivery of the QIPP agenda.
