Develop your clinical pharmacy practice for medicines management
The course aims to provide pharmacists with a clear understanding of medicines management and pharmaceutical care in the context of clinical pharmacy practice in community pharmacy and primary care.
Flexible delivery
The course is provided by distance learning materials tailored to your needs. We provide printed DL materials and on-line materials so that you can study where and when it is most convenient for you. Our methods of delivery allow us to revise and update the course quickly to meet your changing needs as a pharmacist. You can also set your own pace for completing the course - anything from 3-6 months.
The Module covers:
EBP & Clinical Governance
Two clinical areas selected from:
- Heart Failure
- Hypertension
- Depression
- Dyspepsia
- COPD
* Content is regularly reviewed and may be changed to reflect current best practice.
Having completed the course, you'll be given a certificate of completion as evidence of achievement.
Attendance at Keele
This course is studied at a distance. The distance learning materials consist of largely on-line learning materials accessed via our Keele Virtual Learning Environment.
Support from Keele
The course is fully supported by a team of experienced, friendly, and approachable academic, practitioner, administrative and technical staff. We're at the end of a telephone line on weekdays and you can e-mail us at any time. You're not on your own! And, don't forget the network of other pharmacists on the course whom you can contact.
Assessment
Assessment is entirely by coursework, with no formal examination. You will be required to complete a number of problem solving cases which are designed to test your understanding of the course materials and your ability to apply your knowledge to 'real life' situations. You will also be required to keep and submit a Reflective Portfolio documenting your rocord of learning, your experiences relating to the course and your professional practice, and your reflection of this learning throughout the course.
Credits towards Keele's Community Pharmacy programme
By completing this short course, you'll have accumulated 15 credits towards our postgraduate Certificate/Diploma programme for pharmacists working in the community and primary care. Click here for more information about this.
(The University reserves the right to make changes to fees without notice)
All other expenses, including travel and any overnight accommodation that you require, are the responsibility of individual course participants.
A cheque for the appropriate fee must be received by the Department of Medicines Management before any course materials are sent to you.
CPD Plus+ Open Learn Courses
CPD Plus+ Open Learn courses will normally use fixed content, named CPD Plus+ courses as their basis and students will develop the final learning outcomes with their Keele tutor, within the requirements that are necessary for a 30 credit Open Learn version of the module.
Please contact a member of our Course Team to discuss your requirements.
