This short course APD programme is especially designed for leaders, managers, administrators and teachers working, or intending to work, in International Schools or Universities in Asia. The programme consists of two modules from the MBA Education (International) programme.  The APD programme is delivered over two days, one weekend, at Harrow International School, Bangkok, Thailand (May).

This APD course is an MBA level programme and aims to provide educational professionals working in Asia advanced learning and development in two aspects of management and leadership; Organisational Behaviour and Analysis, and Human Resource Issues. The accreditation, teaching and assessment are undertaken entirely by Keele University tutors and professors, supported by educational specialists.

Course members may opt for full assessment on the programme or merely attendance at the two-day residential in Bangkok (May). All participants receive a Certificate of Attendance. Those who wish to be awarded Keele University’s MBA-level accreditation for the programme must successfully complete the two, 15 credit module assessments. These take the form of essays that critically reflect and analyse aspects of educational management or leadership of relevance to the student.

Participants may use the 30 credits gained by successful completion towards either the MBA Education (International); the Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration (Education), or the Postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration (Education). The APD cost will be fully offset against the MBA, PG Diploma or PG Certificate fee rates for those participants who transfer to any of these higher-level programmes.

There are no specific undergraduate subject requirements but students should have a good honours degree (or equivalent) plus appropriate professional training and/or experience. As the course is taught and assessed exclusively in English, applicants must be able to demonstrate fluency in the English language.

The APD course comprises two taught modules delivered over two days (one weekend) at Harrow International School, Bangkok in May of each year. Those participants who wish to be accredited the total of 30 credits for the two modules must undertake the full assessment for each module. This assessment consists of two written essays submitted approximately four months after the taught element. Participants who do not wish to undertake the formal assessment will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

The two taught modules (30 credits) are:

Organisational Behaviour and Development – the culture, operation and evaluation of organisations, management and leadership in the context of international educational institutions.

Human Resource Issues – evaluating, understanding and enhancing individual performance and team operations

The APD programme is taught from the perspective of senior level professionals, teachers, managers and administrators operating in multi-cultural for-profit educational institutions in Asia, especially South East Asia.

Attendance Only: no formal assessment is undertaken. Participant receives a Certificate of Attendance from Keele University.

Attendance and Formal Assessment: Participant undertakes a 3500 word essay for each module, so two essays are submitted in total. On successful completion of the two essays the participant gains Keele University’s Postgraduate Award (30 credits at MBA level)

Successful participants who undertake the formal assessment may transfer to the full MBA, PG Diploma or PG Certificate having already achieved 30 credits towards these higher level programmes.
