Born in London and arrived in the Potteries in 1982 via Oxford. Undertook hospital training in Stoke-on-Trent before obtaining my current clinical post as a Principal in General Practice within the Potteries in Wolstanton in 1987.

My research career began in 1991 with my appointment as a research fellow at Keele University.

Current research activities

  • Chief investigator for PRIMROSE (The incidences and predictors of the spontaneous resolution of menstrual disturbances in the perimenopausal years)

  • Principal investigator for N-PRESS (North Staffordshire Presenting Symptom Study)

  • Lead partner in a general medical practice participating in research projects and providing routinely collected data to Weekly Returns Service of Royal College of General Practitioners; Keele GP Research Partnership of Primary Care Sciences, Keele University; General Practice Research Database of the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency; Medical Research Council; andThe Health Improvement Network of In Practice Systems.
