Following a degree in social science, a PhD in psychology/artificial neural networks, and a post-doc in psychopharmacology, I completed an MSc in Statistics (with Applications in Medicine) at Southampton in 2001. Subsequent to this I worked at the MRC Institute of Hearing Research in Nottingham as an applied medical statistician, and from 2005 I worked at Leicester University where I was appointed as a Lecturer in Medical Statistics in 2007. In 2012 I was appointed as a Senior Lecturer in Biostatistics at Keele University.
My research within Keele is split between the Health Services Research Unit and the West Midlands Research Design Service. My main areas of applied research are COPD, primary care, and autism. I am currently carrying out methodological research into cluster randomized trials together with colleagues from Leicester and Leeds.
