My first contact with Keele was in 2005 when I attended modular courses in primary care as part of my Vocational training in General Practice. I had the opportunity of meeting and working with members of the primary care team based at the ARC, UK at the time and loved every moment of the experience. My interest in primary care research was rekindled and I have remained at Keele till date.
Prior to coming into Keele, I trained and obtained my medical degree (M.B, B.S) from the College of Medicine of the University of Lagos, Nigeria in 1995. Following this, I obtained a post graduate qualification of a master’s in Public Health (M.P.H) from the same university in 1998. I have obtained further post graduate qualification from Keele (MMedSci) and I am currently on an NIHR-sponsored fellowship for the award of an MPhil in Primary Care.
I currently work as a GP Research fellow at the Arthritis Research UK Primary Care Centre at Keele University. I also work as a General Practitioner in North Staffordshire.
My research within Keele is located at the Arthritis Research UK Primary care and I have conducted a study on the influence of deprivation on consultation in primary care within North Staffordshire. My current research interest is in Comorbidities of chronic diseases in primary care. I am currently working with Umesh Kadam to investigate the influence of chronic disease comorbidities on optimal treatment in primary care settings.
I am a recipient of the NIHR- sponsored award for Primary Care Research (March 2009 – January 2012).
